Who was your first crush?

David Bowie.

Apparently as my mom tells me, we were going to get married and honeymoon in hawaii. What a strange little child I was.

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

Panera Boy

Well, this summer has definitely been very different from my others. I've been working at a local florist in a town right outside of  mine. And honestly it has been a great time. Some days it is super busy! Like last Saturday, there was 17 weddings. Most on this particular day I had to work straight through lunch and stay late at work. This day I decided I would get an iced tea and a sandwich after work for my dinner. And on my way I went to Panera's. Plan and simple, the cashier was absolutely cute. Not exactly my type but had the most piercing eyes. He did seem kind of nervous and kept reading my shirt. So the next morning I went to Panera's again to get some breakfast and he was there again. So basically that's my situation.. I'm not sure if I should try to further this. And if so how would I go about doing this. Should I flirt with him and go there more often. They usually ask what's your name after you order.. Should I come up with something witty to say? Should I just go with the flow? I've never been that great with the art of flirting. Usually if I like a guy, I'll find out what he's into and casually talk with him. But it's not that easy this time. And I don't want to get some false confidence if he responds to my actions with just some great customer Service. If you guys have any ideas I would be really appreciative. I mean there are so many times where I've thought what if I had done something differently. What if I took a chance on it. But either way I don't want to to turn into that. Anyways apart from my lame crushing I've seen some good movies and read some great books!

I was supposed to see Dark Knight last night at around 11 but it happened to be sold out. So instead my friends and I saw Mama Mia! at 11:30. It was awesome because since we were basically the only other people in the movie theater we danced and sang-a-long. .. Which I loved. This movie was pretty much just like the trailer so I wouldn't recommend this to those seeking complex and intricate plot lines. But this movie is definitely good for it's Grecian scenery and Abba tunes. I would have almost preferred to have seen it as a live show on broadway but either way it was cute.

Currently I am reading a No One Belongs Here More Than You. Stories By Miranda July. It's absolutely wonderful. Each chapter is a seperate story and in it's briefness each convey a strong message with honesty. I really love it. Also it's a quick read so I'd recommend it to all.

Peace out.

Solo Artists Love!

In honor of independence and our Country's independence weekend, I have decided to dedicate this entry to all of the independent artists out there. By indie I'm commending those artists who major and independent labelled who are solo and independently music geniuses. They have to be truly spectacular to make it as a solo act. Here are some of my recent and not so recent favorite solo artists. I'm not going to be writing about each individually but I suggest listening to them-- it's safe to say they've all changed my life in some way.

New CDs, New Tv Shows, New Movies

I know it's been a while... so

Here's my quick take on a couple new album releases of this year- so far.

WE ARE SCIENTISTS:

CD Cover Art

On this cd, WAS have taken a new sound. With Love and Squalor for me was amazing; I truly loved every song. Therefore I was very excited for their newest CD Brain Thrust Mastery thinking there was no way for me to be disapointed. But what i was assumed was wrong - I faced major disappointment. I do like some of the songs but alot of the album is rather boring and repetitive. But still some of the tunes are playable. I can only hope their next album will be a touch oldskool.

SIGUR ROS:

Sigur Ros - Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust

This album is absolutely wonderful, the single gobbledigook is up for free download and such a great song. The first couple of tracks on this album are an evolved more tribal sound versus Sigur Ros usual melancholic yet loveable ballads. Even though most of the song names are basically impossible to pronounce unless you speak Icelandic, this album,Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust, will be universally recogonized for it's ear candy quality.

COLD PLAY:

I am definitely in love with the evolution of coldplay. This album, viva la vida, features many golden tracks that seem to be less traditional coldplay but in a good way. So far I have found myself just loving the tracks Viva la Vida - featured on an itunes commercial and Violet Hill which has an indie feeling video. Diehard coldplay fans might not find this album appealing but it definitely possesses a shift for a new mass audience who prefer their new aesthetic. (like me!)

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE

The other album's it is plain to see how my opinion is swaying but for this album, I will possess your heart, I am almost apathetic. I used to think that Death Cab was the epitome of indie heart and soul. They breathed independent spirit and had anything but MTV running through their veins. So it was a bit of a surprise to see Death Cab going against everything I thought they stood for. I will possess your heart is a catchy and pleasant song all can relate to but other then that the rest of the album is going to have to grow on me. It feels like they've taken on a new sound combining their old upbeat yet low-fi indie pop and a more familiar mass appeal of strummy guitar. For now I'm up in the air with this album since it feels like a dramatic shift in death cab's careers

RADIOHEAD

1006444_CD Radiohead - In Rainbows [Digipak]

groundbreaking. a beautiful addition to radiohead's experimental masterpieces. I LOVE IT.

Lil' WAYNE

Tha Carter III by Lil Wayne: CD Cover

My friend who is infatuated with Lil Wayne's work, is again floored by his newest album. And most of the time that I end up riding in her car and find myself saying, this rapper is going to be a legend. For now he is humble and honest. He throws down some sick beats in this one and continues to transform the rap industry, in a good way. Give it a listen, decide for yourself.

THE DANDY WARHOLS

I am a huge fan of the Dandy Warhols and found their songs Bohemian Like You and We used to Be friends to be completely passionate and wonderful. They've definitely taken on a new sound and I like what they've produced but not as a Dandy Warhol piece since it strays from their original sound so much. As a seperate CD I really find it intrigueing.

WEEZER

Weezer (Vinyl)-Weezer (Artist)-Image

The other day I heard their single, Pork and Beans, and it's been stuck in my head since. After I looked up the video on youtube, I found it innovative , humourous, quirky and weezerlicious. Yes and I just said that. It has a familiar weezer sound but still includes new sounds like only add to their music quality.

UP and COMING on the RADAR:: and some of my personal faves..

Jack's Mannequin sophomore album to come out in August named Glass Passenger; I hope this doesn;t turn out like my WAS high expectations..

Le Corps Mince de Françoise. - fantastic..  give it a good listen on this.bigstereo.url or their myspace.

TV:

My Boys

a funny sitcom thursday 9:30; it's cute, i'd say give it a try... it's gilmore girls meets .. i'm not sure

CINEMA:

disney.. does it again. Very cute message, there are no accidents. I love to see that animation world advance. You definitely see that in this film.

MUSIC REVIEW:CAJUN DANCE PARTY

Your browser may not support display of this image.

With dreamy melodies and unique instrument arrangements the scatter pop band Cajun Dance Party appears to be a hidden indie gem. The five-piece alternative band from London drops their debut album The Colourful Life this April and holds promises of indie scene success. Composed of high schoolers, during the past year Cajun Dance Party has been focusing on the release of their album, school and a follow-up album that will release in October. Their singles “The Next Untouchable”, “The Race” and “Amylase” demonstrate their strengths and accentuate their inborn musical talent. As well their released singles show how truly inspired, ambitious and qualified this band is. Their songs are charged with the energetic and charming vocals of seventeen-year old Blumberg. They give off a vibrant and catchy vibe creating breezy indie pop effortlessly. Simultaneously their whimsical sound and juvenile lyrics lower their chances of being the next Arctic Monkeys or Mystery Jets. Even if they lack experience, Cajun Dance Party still displays dedication and offers delectable ear candy.
